Producer, mixing and mastering engineer, founder of KRM

Richard Easterling, known as King Richard Mix, is a Grammy-nominated producer, mixing and mastering engineer, and the founder and owner of KRM: KRM Records, KRM Studios and KRM Sound. A 30-year veteran record producer, mix engineer and musician, he has been producing and mixing professionally since the 1990s, on a road that runs from Detroit to Colorado Springs.

He studied at Berea College in Kentucky (class of 1991) and went on to run his own studios: Third Sky Studio in Richmond, Kentucky, and Platinum Underground in Arizona. At Third Sky he recorded and engineered American Head Charge’s Tango Umbrella for Napalm Records, working with Dave Fortman.

Along the way he mixed Doll Skin for David Ellefson’s EMP label, mixed the Emperors and Elephants album for Pavement/SONY, mixed the supergroup Zen From Mars, and recorded A Killer’s Confession, featuring former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, for EMP. Over the years he has worked with artists including Train, Muse, Fuel, Taproot, Vertical Horizon, Oleander and Flaw.

In 2021 he founded KRM Studios at 901 N Union Blvd in Colorado Springs, along with KRM Records. KRM Sound, a division of KRM Records, brings the same ears to live sound and event production. Today he records, produces, mixes and masters at KRM Studios, in stereo and Dolby Atmos, with Apple-certified mastering.
